Ark Volunteer Connect FAQs  
 

Do I need an account to volunteer? 
Yes. An Ark Staff member will create an account for you. This will allow you to sign up for shifts, track your volunteer history, and receive important updates. Just fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and begin the process. 

How do I sign up for a volunteer shift? 
Log in to Ark Volunteer Connect (https://volunteer.arkchicago.org/), browse available opportunities, and select the shift you would like to join. You will receive confirmation once you are registered. From this email, you can add the information to your calendar. 
 

How can I see what shifts I’m signed up for? 
After logging in, go to the “My Shifts” tab to view upcoming and past volunteer shifts. 
 

How do I cancel a shift? 
Log in to your account, find the shift in the “My Shifts” tab and select the option to cancel shift. Please cancel as early as possible so another volunteer can take your spot. 
 

Is there a deadline to cancel a shift? 
You can cancel through Ark Volunteer Connect any time. However, if you need to cancel the day of your shift, please email, call, or text the volunteer coordinator directly to let them know. 

 
What can I do if a shift I want to sign up for is unavailable? 
If a shift is full, you may be able to join a waitlist if one is offered. You will be notified if openings become available. 
 

What should I expect when I arrive for my shift? 
Details about arrival time, location, and responsibilities will be included in your shift confirmation email. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in. 
 

What should I wear? 
We ask that all volunteers wear modest and comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.  
 

Can I bring a friend or family member? 
Each volunteer must be registered individually unless the shift specifically allows group or family volunteering.

I didn’t receive a confirmation email. What should I do? 
Check your spam or junk folder. If you still don’t see it, log into your account to confirm your registration (by checking the “My Shifts” section) or contact us at volunteer@arkchicago.org for assistance.
